• Engage in a trading simulation where you buy and sell financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, commodities, and currencies. The Rosemarie Nathanson Financial Markets Trading Room provides industry-standard tools and re-creates some of the atmosphere of a real trading environment.
• Analyse the fundamentals of a firm using our extensive databases (including Bloomberg and Reuters Eikon) to form an investment decision and create a report similar to those produced by equity analysts.
• Price complex fixed income securities and derivatives using quantitative models, and investigate deviations from real-world prices (using Bloomberg and Reuters Eikon).
• Prepare for CFA Program Exams – UWA is part of the CFA University affiliation program and the MAF covers 70%+ of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge.

Graduates of a Master of Applied Finance will:

• have advanced theoretical and technical finance knowledge and skills to solve emerging and/or advanced finance problems.
• be able to demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills to complex problems/issues in finance, and  communicate clearly and effectively in relation to complex problems/issues in finance to specialists and non- specialists.

The Master of Applied Finance is part of the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. This signifies that the course incorporates at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) across all 3 levels of the CFA Program and places emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. This affiliation signifies that the UWA Master of Applied Finance curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to study towards the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, which has become the most respected and recognised investment credential in the world. Through participation in this program, students in the Master of Finance are eligible for scholarships towards enrolment in the CFA Program, access to CFA Institute curriculums, journals, webcasts, and other educational resources.

The Master of Applied Finance is a practical course designed for graduates already working in the finance sector, as well as those with a non-finance background who wish to move into the finance area.
