Course details

Population health tackles both infectious and non-infectious diseases and promotes healthier lifestyles and the application of evidence based medicine to populations. It is at the forefront of medicine tackling factors that influence health and lead to health inequalities. Issues in population health are often controversial and we will discuss how we can balance individual and societal needs in order to maximise health and equity. What can we do to improve the health and well-being in communities?

About The Course

In your first year, you will study health issues locally and globally, and the social, environmental, biological and historical factors that influence health in a population. In second year, you will develop skills in critical appraisal and research inquiry, measuring the size of health issues, causes and risk factors and the potential for prevention. In third year, you will look at health promotion, health systems and policies, health leadership skills and health research.
