Throughout your studies at UWA you’ll have tutoring support, career advice, academic, wellbeing and pastoral guidance, and enjoy social, cultural and community activities as part of the Bilya Marlee community of Indigenous students, staff and graduates across every discipline.

Regardless of whether your path so far includes ATAR or whether you meet the typical entry requirements of a particular course, we’ll work with you to you achieve your study and career goals. That’s why our Bilya Marlee team are here to help you access scholarships, accommodation and entry to UWA.
And you can always talk to us about your circumstances and goals so we can find a way for you to join us here at UWA.
Orientation Course
If you don’t meet the entry requirements for your course or just want to better prepare for uni study, this 14-week course gives you entry to most UWA undergrad degrees and the study skills to achieve.
Provisional Entry Scheme
Not everyone enters a degree through the typical ATAR entry path. Based on your education and career background, if you’re ready to start your degree we can help you with admission.
UWA Smart Start
Boost your confidence and equip yourself with the skills to succeed in your university degree course by enrolling in our unique university preparation course in Albany.
Other entry options
Perhaps you’re the first in your family to go to uni, are mature age, or went to a Broadway school? There are plenty of pathways to UWA for anyone not meeting the typical entry requirements.
Financial support and scholarships
We’re here to make sure financial constraints don’t stand in the way of you joining us at UWA. If the cost of study has you worried, we can help by giving you info about the financial support you could be entitled to. ABSTUDY can help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders cover the costs of university. Plus, there are plenty of scholarships just for Indigenous students.
Accommodation for Indigenous students
There are five residential colleges at UWA within walking distance of the campus, with a growing community of more than 90 Indigenous students currently staying here. Come and join the fun of living on campus! If you’re eligible for ABSTUDY and are a rural student, your total UWA accommodation bill can be covered. If you’re doing the Aboriginal Orientation Course we recommend staying at University Hall or St Thomas More.
Indigenous study support
We want you to continue the story of Indigenous achievement at UWA so we’re here with you every step of the way. As an Indigenous student at UWA, you can be matched with a final-year student, postgraduate student or graduate to help tutor you throughout your chosen degree. Plus, our Bilya Marlee team are always here to help with any academic or other support you might need throughout your studies.
Get involved
As an Indigenous student at UWA you'll be joining a strong, supportive, fun community. The WA Students Aboriginal Corporation (WASAC) is the Indigenous student body on campus and offers a range of social and sporting events throughout the year. Indigenous Nationals is an annual competitive sporting event that aims to celebrate culture and bring together the Indigenous student community from universities across Australia.
Indigenous outreach programs
Through our Indigenous school outreach programs, students are introduced to university life and what UWA has to offer. Our programs include hands-on activities, meeting tertiary student role models, learning about university courses and making decisions about their future education with the guidance of staff at UWA.
